Ready for some fun? I’m playing this game over at Sydney Landon’s launch party for her latest Danvers novel “<a title="Fighting For You" href="http://amzn.com/0451468953" target="_blank">Fighting For You.”

<a title="Get your copy of Fighting For You" href="http://amzn.com/0451468953" target="_blank"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-358" alt="Fighting For You by Sydney Landon" src="http://www.jeanoram.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/FightingForYou-186x300.jpg" width="186" height="300" />

You can play here and figure out your new steamy romance novel name and/or you can also pop over to her launch party on Facebook. Everyone is welcome.
How to play:

It’s pretty simple. Using the first letter of your first name, look down the list of first names below and choose your new first name. My name starts with a J, so my new first name is Arousing. (Hello!)

Next, we’re going to pick a middle name. Using the month of your birth, choose the corresponding name from the birth month list. My new middle name is Studette Muffin.

And because I created this game to celebrate Sydney’s Danvers series, we’re going to join Danvers International and adopt Danvers as our last name.

So my new sexy name is Arousing Studette Muffin Danvers.

Name Mandy’s Cat in Whiskey and Gumdrops!

 Posted by Jean Oram , 02 August 2013 · 523 views

Okay dear readers, I need help.

And you are completely qualified! 100%!

I need to name Mandy’s cat in my upcoming Blueberry Springs book, Whiskey and Gumdrops. I have a lot of troubles naming characters sometimes and have tagged Mandy’s half-Persian kitty as Fluffinator at the moment. It’s quirky and goofy, but it doesn’t quite fit.

Here’s the scoop:

In the comment section of this post, suggest names for Mandy’s cat. If you see one you like in the comments, you can vote for it by leaving a comment saying you are voting for that one.

Once a name has been chosen (thank you in advance!!!) that person will be mentioned in the book’s acknowledgements as having named Mandy’s cat. (If you would rather stay anonymous, that is fine, too. We can work around that.) As well, I would like to gift you with an ebook or paperback copy of Whiskey and Gumdrops when it is released (late September or early October).

<a href="http://www.jeanoram.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/Persian_Cat_7_UK.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-325" alt="Persian cat by Si Griffiths" src="http://www.jeanoram.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/Persian_Cat_7_UK.jpg" width="487" height="324" />
Photo credit: <a title="Photo Credit and source" href="http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Persian_Cat_7_UK.jpg" target="_blank">Si Griffiths

Here are some Fluffinator sneak peeks:

She ignored FLUFFINATOR, her half Persian who was rubbing against her, determined to leave as much gray fur on Mandy’s navy uniform as possible.

Yeah, typical cat, right? Here’s more:

Mandy burst out laughing, startling FLUFFINATOR who acted highly insulted as she strutted away, head held high, nose pointed upward, and that gargantuan tail definitely giving her the finger.

This cat has ‘tude!

Mandy closed her laptop and crossed the room. She pet FLUFFINATOR, who had returned to the windowsill unfazed, and scanned the street. This kind of behavior usually meant Frankie was out there. FLUFFINATOR, despite her typical haughtiness had a thing for Frankie, even though the puss did her best not to let it show around him.
Like Mandy, like kitty.

Okay, that’s all I’m sneak peeking at the moment, but it should give you a feel for Fluffinator.

Comment away! And thanks for reading.

Note: Name the cat ends Sunday, August 4th at midnight Mountain Time.

Another Note: After finding this picture to brighten the post and provide inspiration, I totally want to name Fluffinator Mr. Winkles–even though the cat, in my mind, is female. BUT I should also note that I can easily change the sex of the cat to fit the winning name.

Want to tweet this and get votes for your name?<a class="embedtweet" title=" Click here to tweet." href="https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?text=Name%20Mandy's%20cat%20in%20%40jeanoram's%20upcoming%20book%20Whiskey%20and%20Gumpdrops%20or%20vote%20for%20my%20name!%20%20http%3A%2F%2Fwww.jeanoram.com%2Fbook-giveaways%2Fname-cat-whiskey-and-gumdrops%2F%20%23giveaway%20%23amreading" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"> Click here to tweet.

Meet J. Lea Lopez: Your Erotica and New Adult Ebook Fix

Lea Lopez" src="http://www.jeanoram.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/SorrysNotEnough.jpg" width="324" height="465" />Have you met J. Lea Lopez? She’s new and so is her hair colour! Seriously, this writer has some do-it-yourself guts when it comes to cutting (gulp) and colouring her hair. Last I checked she was moving from blue to purple. Or was it the other way around?

I met J. Lea through a writer’s board and read her work for the first time in <a title="Spring Fevers on Amazon. It's FREE you should totally get a copy." href="http://www.amazon.com/Spring-Fevers-ebook/dp/B007EDIAGC/ref=sr_1_3?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1369345662&sr=1-3" target="_blank">Spring Fevers. Her story ‘Adventures of Sasquatch’ (see below–you can get it for free! It’s a fun story about a girl with big feet trying to find true love) made me want to hug my ereader. It also inspired me to write my own short stories, ‘Crumbs,’ which appeared in <a title="The Fall: Tales From the Apocalypse" href="http://www.amazon.com/The-Fall-Tales-Apocalypse-ebook/dp/B009ZVVDOM/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top" target="_blank">The Fall: Tales From the Apocalypse which is about finding love at the end of the world (well, my story is–the whole anthology isn’t about that) and my latest story ‘Gown for Sale’ which will be released in Summer’s Edge in July. That’s all thanks to J. Lea!

And now she is going the indie route which means we’ll get to read a lot more of her stories from the hot and steamy (see the end of the post) to her contemporary new adult novel, Sorry’s Not Enough.

Sorry’s Not Enough

Charlotte learned at an early age that people – including family – are capable of hurting you so bad “sorry” will never be enough. The obvious solution is not to let anyone close enough to do any damage, and she’s doing just fine with that until a summer writing workshop brings Steven into her life. Seemingly immune to Charlotte’s Stay the Hell Away from Me pheromones, he uses his wit and good looks – or what Charlotte would call his obnoxious ego and his stupid good looks – to win her over. The unexpected summer romance screeches to a halt when Steven’s job creates an ethical dilemma for the couple. Sorry doesn’t begin to cover the hurt feelings.

Despite the secrets Charlotte’s keeping and the renewed passion with which she pushes him away, Steven can’t let her go. And so the cycle of their relationship begins. Over the course of four years they share moments as passionate lovers, periods of warm friendship, as well as months of barely-civil tension.

When no amount of time or distance, and no number of men, can make her forget the comfort of Steven’s arms, Charlotte must dig into her painful past and face the man whose betrayal destroyed her capacity for trust to begin with. And by the time she finds the courage to do so, will “sorry” be enough to get Steven back?

Warning: Contents steamier than Sweet Dreams!!

While this post was supposed to be just for J. Lea’s new release, her contemporary new adult book, Sorry’s Not Enough, I was reading her other new release which is a free romance ebook that contains short erotica stories and short romance stories. And so I asked her to share what it is about as well as I know readers LOVE FREE BOOKS!

Consenting Adults contains 5 free short stories:

The title story, “Consenting Adults”, explores the eroticism of an enthusiastic “Yes!” between lovers.

Note from Jean: Wowzers. A sweet story about an office love affair. Hot, too.

“The Haricot Verts” peeks in on a tense moment between a couple where she can’t seem to say what’s on her mind.

Note from Jean: I love the awkward, unsaid tension in this very short story.

“The Reluctant Exhibitionist” follows a young couple learning to open up and share their fantasies without embarrassment.

Note from Jean: The title says it all. Another hot story about opening up to your lover.

“The Adventures of Sasquatch” is the story of a single mom – and her big feet – reclaiming her inner princess.

Note from Jean: This one is my favourite–it’s the one I mentioned above–and it reminds me a lot of Jennifer Weiner. If you read it you will fall in love with the characters and demand J. Lea write a novel about them!

“Between the Lines” shows what happens when long-hidden desires sizzle to the surface between two near-strangers.

Note from Jean: Explores the other side of a shy wallflower. Another hot one.

The Vervacious Josie Brown: Chick Lit Author Extraordinaire

 Posted by Jean Oram , 27 May 2013 · 804 views

Welcome to International Chick Lit Month as well as a sneak peek into the secret lives of chick lit authors. They are a cool group of people and today we have author Josie Brown on The Lovebug Blog! Welcome Josie!

Oddly enough, I first ‘met’ Josie Brown’s books when I published my own. There was this DAZZLING cover sitting on the women’s fiction lists that totally hooked me in. It was the cover of <a title="Get Josie Brown's Totlandia for FREE on Amazon.com" href="http://www.amazon.com/Totlandia-Onesies-Book-Fall-ebook/dp/B00A4PJYQW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1369428292&sr=8-2&keywords=totlandia" target="_blank">Totlandia: The Onsies. I mean, what isn’t there to love about a sparkly baby bottle on a light blue cover? I picked it up (it’s <a title="Get it now. Don't wait. It's great! Hey, it rhymes!" href="http://www.amazon.com/Totlandia-Onesies-Book-Fall-ebook/dp/B00A4PJYQW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1369428292&sr=8-2&keywords=totlandia" target="_blank">FREE) and promptly set the other book I was reading aside so I could finish her hilarious look at momhood and what we’ll do for our kids. In other words, I was an INSTANT FAN!!!

Josie was available to chat here on the blog for International Chick Lit Month as well as SHARE THE COVER OF HER UPCOMING BOOK, The Candidate, AND tell us how we can win $100 gift card! Wow!

<a href="http://www.jeanoram.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Totlandia.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-245" alt="Josie Brown's Totlandia series." src="http://www.jeanoram.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Totlandia.jpg" width="431" height="323" />

Interview with Author Josie Brown

Jean/The Lovebug Blog: When were you first introduced to chick lit or romance? Who was your first chick lit or romance love?

Josie Brown: I guess my very first “chick lit” book was BRIDGET JONES’S DIARY, which I adore to this day. It had all the elements: a quirky heroine who learns to believe in herself, a cad, the good guy, and the best friends in the world, and a story arc where she finally proves to herself that she’s worth having all the wonderful things she deserved.

Then again, if we can call Jane Austen chick lit, I’d have to say PRIDE AND PREJUDICE was my first chick lit reading. Funny how little we women (and readers) have changed through the ages!

Jean: What do you enjoy most about writing humourous chick lit? (Do you ever make yourself laugh?– ‘Cause you totally make your readers laugh, chortle, giggle and snort.)

Josie: HA HA! Well, that just made my day! I’ve had interesting conversations with my editors as to how much — and how little humor a good novel should have. Really, I should rephrase that: our discussions have been based on the amount of pathos in my books, which I leaven with humor. I love it when readers comment on how “real” my heroines are; that they can feel for them, cry for them, as well as laugh with them (and at them). My goal is that you’ll miss them when the book ends. So, from the bottom of my heart, thanks for letting me know that I’m doing so.

Jean: The Totlandia series reads like Desperate Housewives hits the playgroup circuit and you completely hit the nail on the head with the competition between mothers as well as their insecurities and motivations for wanting the best for their tots. Did you have to do any undercover work and infiltrate top-notch playgroups as research? In other words, how did you end up totally capturing the best and worst of motherhood?

Josie: My research was playground-based (LOL!) Living as I do in San Francisco and Marin County, California, I’ve witnessed a lot of mama drama from the posh set. Some things that should be mundane are blown out of proportion. Keeping up with the Joneses is always top-of-mind, as is ensuring that your child has all the advantages of those in the same zip code. It’s why they’re raising their children here in the first place. But when all is said and done, is pray that the experiences and advice you’ve shared with your child puts them on the path of being healthy and happy adults. You won’t be around to micromanage their lives forever. And you can’t measure it by “stuff”.

<a href="http://www.jeanoram.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/MarriageBooks.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-246" alt="Josie Brown's books" src="http://www.jeanoram.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/MarriageBooks.jpg" width="305" height="228" />
Hey look! It’s the whole set from finding the man to getting married to having a baby!

Jean: You’ve written several series in the chick lit genre. What are the highlights and frustrations of writing a series? (And do you ever find your readers begging for more after you’re done?)

Josie: HAHAHA! I’m always honored when I get a message from a reader begging for the next book to come out. That proves I’ve touched them in some way, and so have my characters.

As for the highlights: I enjoy plotting out my character’s story arcs. And of course, I enjoy writing about characters we all enjoy hating, which in the <a title="Get Josie Brown's Totlandia for FREE on Amazon.com" href="http://www.amazon.com/Totlandia-Onesies-Book-Fall-ebook/dp/B00A4PJYQW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1369428292&sr=8-2&keywords=totlandia" target="_blank">Totlandia series is Bettina Connaught Cross, of course. She’s a joy to write, because we’ve all come across a mean mommy, just like her. And since we don’t want to be mean mommies ourselves, I’m glad she’s become my outlet for the outlandish stuff I can only dream of inflicting on a fellow mom.

As for the frustrations: Sometimes to move the story forward, one character needs more “page time” than another. If she isn’t the readers’ favorite, I’ll hear back that they wish I would have focused on their fave instead. In truth, I plot out each character’s story thread in different color fonts, then count up the colors to make sure I’m giving them an equal number of scenes. Of course, they are also sharing their scenes with others, so there is some overlap. Hey, it’s a problem I love having, because I enjoy my TOTLANDIA moms (Lorna, Jade, Jillian, Ally) equally. They all bring a different perspective to motherhood, parenting and relationships. My hope is to do them justice.

<a href="http://www.jeanoram.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/HousewifeAssassin.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-247" alt="The Housewife Assassin series by Josie Brown." src="http://www.jeanoram.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/HousewifeAssassin.jpg" width="393" height="294" />
Five Books!! Did you know Josie now knows the cover model through Facebook? Cool!

Jean: Chick lit is best known for to-die-for shoes, career traumas & drama, handsome heroes, and best friends. In what ways does your own life resemble chick lit?

Josie: Okay, I just spewed my coffee on this one! Seriously, NONE WHATSOEVER.

Except for the “handsome hero” part. I truly feel that I manifested my husband from a wishlist that asked for humor, good looks, and smarts that would keep me on my toes–

In second thought, once I was explaining to the editor of my book, <a title="Secret Lives of Husbands and Wives by Josie Brown" href="http://www.amazon.com/Secret-Lives-Husbands-Wives-ebook/dp/B003KN3M7M/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1369428680&sr=1-1&keywords=secret+lives+of+husbands+and+wives" target="_blank">SECRET LIVES OF HUSBANDS AND WIVES, how Martin and I met, and she commented, “You know you put him in this book, don’t you?”

Didn’t see THAT one coming.

So yes, I guess we all draw from real life. (Except in my case, being flat-footed and pigeon-toed means I can’t wear high heels…sigh!)

I’ve also got a new political thriller breaking in a couple of weeks, called THE CANDIDATE. Because I love your site, and in honor of International Chick Lit Month, you and your readers will be the first to see the cover, which I’ve enclosed for you, here.

It’s a dark, sexy political thriller, something that’s been knocking around in my head for some time. Anyone who loves my Housewife Assassin series will certainly enjoy it. Of course, it’s more serious than Donna’s machinations, but just as fun.

The Candidate is: SCANDAL meets HOMELAND as a presidential campaign manager stumbles onto a terrorist plot involving his candidate, the halls of power, and the woman he loves.

Of course, Book 5 of the series, THE HOUSEWIFE ASSASSIN’S VACATION TO DIE FOR, will be out in August, so that we all end our summer with a bang!

International Chick Lit Month with Award-Winning Author Tonya Kappes

 Posted by Jean Oram , 26 May 2013 · 757 views

Happy International Chick Lit Month! Today we have award-winning chick lit author Tonya Kappes here to share how she created an amazing beading shop in her novel Carpe Bead ‘em as well as how to join her for a tea party! And if you’ve read the other <a title="Read all the interviews with chick lit authors celebrating International Chick Lit Month!" href="http://www.jeanoram.com/category/international-chick-lit-month/" target="_blank">interviews in the series, you might be starting to notice a trend among the secret lives of chick lit authors and when they first fell in love with chick lit.

<a href="http://www.jeanoram.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/image.jpeg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-238" alt="Tonya Kappes Magic Series" src="http://www.jeanoram.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/image.jpeg" width="280" height="210" />

Interview With Chick Lit Author Tonya Kappes

Jean/ The Lovebug Blog: When did you first fall in love with chick lit and/or romance?

Tonya Kappes: It started with reading Claire Cooke books as well as the Bridget Jones series. I’m a sucker for a great movie with chick lit elements. Plus Sex In The City was uber fun to watch too!

Jean: What part of writing chick lit do you enjoy the most?

Tonya: It’s the friendships that draw me into the genre. I love strong women helping strong women. There is nothing scarier than women in numbers!<a href="http://www.jeanoram.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/TonyaKappes.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-239" alt="Tonya Kappes books" src="http://www.jeanoram.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/TonyaKappes.jpg" width="275" height="183" />

Jean: Have you had to do research for your various books? For example, in <a title="Carpe Bead 'em by Tonya Kappes" href="http://www.amazon.com/Carpe-Beadem-ebook/dp/B0050I4UX0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1369421984&sr=8-1&keywords=carpe+bead+%27em" target="_blank">Carpe Bead ‘Em your heroine creates amazing beaded creations. Did you know beading before you began the story or was it something you had to learn (or make up) for the story? What did you enjoy about the process of creating a beading heroine?

Tonya: Ah….good question! I was actually an owner of a beading company, Bead-Nicks, for over five years until I sold it. The business was great because it brought women together. I got to see first hand how they process the beads and what they wanted for designs, then I got to create what was in their head. Bead-Nicks was great for friendships too. There were parties where I showed them how to make jewelry, but that wasn’t the best part. The best part was me standing around listening to them talk about their lives. It was a place for them to escape and have girl time. I loved that!

I love Hallie [from Carpe Bead 'em]. She had to overcome a lot of stigma and self pride to get to a happy life. I think that we women have a hard time putting our self pride aside. Hallie had to grow in order to find her passion.

<a href="http://www.jeanoram.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Jinx.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-240" alt="Tonya Kappes Chick Lit eBooks" src="http://www.jeanoram.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Jinx.jpg" width="280" height="210" />

Jean: Chick lit is best known for its hunky heroes, career dramas, best friends who rock, and coming of age. Are there any ways in which your own life resembles chick lit?

Tonya: I am very fortunate to have an amazing hunk and best friend! As a matter of fact, there are some little elements of my relationship with my best friend (28 years of friendship!) that is in <a title="Carpe Bead 'em by Tonya Kappes" href="http://www.amazon.com/Carpe-Beadem-ebook/dp/B0050I4UX0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1369421984&sr=8-1&keywords=carpe+bead+%27em" target="_blank">Carpe Bead ‘em. After 28 years of friendship, something is going to seep in

Jean: If you had a chance to go on a date with one of the heroes from your novels, who would you pick and why?

Tonya: Sam from <a title="The Ladybug Jinx" href="http://www.amazon.com/Ladybug-Jinx-Grandberry-Falls-ebook/dp/B0055HG1HE/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1369422086&sr=1-1&keywords=ladybug+jinx" target="_blank">The Ladybug Jinx! The Ladybug Jinx is a coming of age for my hero. I loved the process of talking to men and how they have to become very humble to get to their life’s passion. For Sam, it was hard but well worth it in the end. He would do ANYTHING for his woman!

<a href="http://www.jeanoram.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/TonyaBooks.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-241" alt="Tonya Kappes Books--chick lit" src="http://www.jeanoram.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/TonyaBooks.jpg" width="359" height="269" />

 Posted by Jean Oram , 25 May 2013 · 483 views

Welcome to another weekend of interviews with fabulous chick lit authors in honour of International Chick Lit Month! Today we have the British chick lit author Lindsey Kelk–who now lives in New York. (Chick lit authors seem to have no qualms about moving to different countries–have you noticed?) Lindsey, as well as writing a plethora of great chick lit reads, is also a <a title="Beauty Mecca by Lindsey Kelk" href="http://lindseykelk.wordpress.com/?s=lindsey+loves" target="_blank">beauty blogger. Chick lit authors are SO sexy! Or are they? Maybe I am just messing with you… read on to find out!

<a href="http://www.jeanoram.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/IHeartSeries.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-231" alt="Lindsey Kelk I Heart Books Series" src="http://www.jeanoram.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/IHeartSeries.jpg" width="411" height="548" />

Interview with Chick Lit Author Lindsey Kelk

Jean/The Lovebug Blog: When did you first fall in love with chick lit?

Lindsey Kelk: In all honesty, I was never really a massive reader of the genre as a genre, I was one of those kids who read everything I could get my hands on – for every Sweet Dreams romance I read as a teenager, I read two Point Horrors. I do remember stealing my mum’s copy of <a title="This is Watermelon if you are curious like I was--I hadn't come across this one yet. Looks good!" href="http://www.amazon.com/Watermelon-Marian-Keyes/dp/0060090367/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1369407769&sr=1-1&keywords=watermelon+by+marian+keyes" target="_blank">Watermelon by Marian Keyes on holiday when I was another massive influence on me, I thought it was so funny. So funny that I nicked my step-mother’s book and still have it now, it’s the original paperback cover with the silhouette of the woman smoking. I never really sat down and thought ‘I’m going to write chick lit’ I just sat down and thought ‘I’m going to write’ and <a title="I Heart New York by Lindsey Kelk." href="http://www.amazon.com/Heart-New-York-Novel/dp/B005DI9HPI/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1369407608&sr=8-3&keywords=lindsey+kelk" target="_blank">I Heart New York came out. I’m pretty happy about that.

Jean: What is the sexiest thing about being a chick lit author?

Lindsey: Ha! I don’t think I’ve ever laughed more at a question. Amazing. Thank you. Um, being able to stay in bed until nine am most days? Right now I am sat on my sofa in a ratty sweatshirt with two day dirty hair in a topknot, looking at a load of washing that needs to go to the laundrette, writing chapter eight of <a title="I Heart Christmas--available for preorder!" href="http://www.amazon.com/I-Heart-Christmas-Lindsey-Kelk/dp/000750151X/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1369407726&sr=8-2&keywords=i+heart+christmas+by+lindsey+kelk" target="_blank">I Heart Christmas. It is the least sexy scene in the world.

Jean: Have you ever had a hero (or heroine) misbehave on you and totally change the course of one of your stories? If so, what did you do about it?

Lindsey: It happens. I only really start with a very vague outline, point A to point B and how I get from the beginning to the end is a mystery. I didn’t know James Jacobs (a recurring character from the I Heart books) would ever be seen again after <a title="I Heart Hollywood by Lindsey Kelk" href="http://www.amazon.com/I-Heart-Hollywood-Lindsey-Kelk/dp/B005Q6DUGE/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1369407835&sr=1-1&keywords=i+heart+hollywood" target="_blank">I Heart Hollywood but he keeps popping up. I sort of love him. Jenny and Louisa are being real minxes in <a title="I Heart Christmas by Lindsey Kelk--available for preorder!" href="http://www.amazon.com/I-Heart-Christmas-Lindsey-Kelk/dp/000750151X/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1369407726&sr=8-2&keywords=i+heart+christmas+by+lindsey+kelk" target="_blank">I Heart Christmas right now… I can’t say anymore! Starting a new series with <a title="About a Girl--preorder it!" href="http://www.amazon.com/About-Girl-Lindsey-Kelk/dp/0007497989/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1369407608&sr=8-8&keywords=lindsey+kelk" target="_blank">About A Girl has been amazing – I have no idea what anyone is going to do because they’re all strangers. The I Heart gang are so familiar, I’m always pretty certain of what they’re going to do.

<a href="http://www.jeanoram.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/kelkbooks.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-232" alt="Books by Lindsey Kelk" src="http://www.jeanoram.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/kelkbooks.jpg" width="398" height="298" />

Jean: Have real life tidbits from your life (i.e. career dramas, boyfriends (or a friend’s boyfriend), and other capers) ever snuck their way into one of your stories?

Lindsey: Oh absolutely although the weirdest thing is that Angela seems to go through things before I do! There are definitely a few escapades that slipped through, more random adventures than major life events, thank god. I’d never cope with what my characters go through.

Jean: What is the most daring thing you have ever done?

Lindsey: Probably moving to New York. I’ve also done a lot of long distance travelling for boys that weren’t worth it but at the time, it felt terribly brave. I would like to bill them for all the airfares/car hires/years taken off my life for braving a coach from Doncaster to London on a snowy, icy Boxing Day though… love costs so much money sometimes.

Jean: What are you working on now/What would you like readers to know about you and your books, etc?

Lindsey: It’s a busy year! My new book, <a title="About a Girl--preorder it!" href="http://www.amazon.com/About-Girl-Lindsey-Kelk/dp/0007497989/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1369407608&sr=8-8&keywords=lindsey+kelk" target="_blank">About A Girl, is out on July 4th and that’s the first in a new series. I’ll be over in the UK to promote that over the summer (hopefully) which should be lots of fun. Then <a title="I Heart Christmas by Lindsey Kelk--available for preorder!" href="http://www.amazon.com/I-Heart-Christmas-Lindsey-Kelk/dp/000750151X/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1369407726&sr=8-2&keywords=i+heart+christmas+by+lindsey+kelk" target="_blank">I Heart Christmas is coming out in November, I’m writing that right now, and then I’m off to Italy in September to research the sequel to <a title="About a Girl by Lindsey Kelk--preorder it!" href="http://www.amazon.com/About-Girl-Lindsey-Kelk/dp/0007497989/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1369407608&sr=8-8&keywords=lindsey+kelk" target="_blank">About a Girl which is out next summer! And then I’m having a sit down because it will be March 2014 and I’ll be knackered. All the info and my online meltdowns are well documented at<a title="Lindsey Kelk online!" href="http://lindseykelk.com" target="_blank"> www.lindseykelk.com. (Note from Jean: If you are a Sex in the City fan you TOTALLY have to check out Lindsey’s blog where she’s answering the questions posed by the character Carrie.)

A big warm thank you to Lindsey. Man, could you imagine having to go to Italy for research? Bliss!

Question for readers! If you could travel anywhere in the world for, er, ‘research’ where would you go? Anywhere at all! Let us know in the comment section.

Thanks for reading!
