I guess I've never really thought about the connection between faith and mystery. It's kind of crazy because His Voice His Movement speaks to that exact thing. Here you take a young lady who has the world at her feet only to have that freedom of creative expression taken at the very hand of those that are to protect her. Her mother, who deals with the struggles in her own life with addiction and all of the skeltons that comes with it..Finds herself alone and afraid for the success of child to overshadow her toxic life. So, she on the very day of her daughters wedding decides to take her child's life. The inspiration came from just going through tragic events in my own life with lossing a grandmother to breast cancer and then loosing an aunt after a 5 year seperation. I never (we for that matter) never understand truly how effective people's lives really are until they are gone from us. Crystal's legacy of creative expression lives on through the hearts and minds of all those she touched through the art of love which is the true message behind this project. I, hope and pray that it will make it to the big screen one day.

Sorry I haven't been around. Let's make the Hitchcock reference specific, though I thin it is general.  If you haven't seen a bunch of his stuff, Thrash, it may help.  Here's the one I would recommend.  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0038109/

I, remember back in high school when I took my mass media classes and how we had to do nothing but review hitchcock  movies! Man that takes me back! Now it's CSI everything on t.v. criminal intent etc!  Those classes helped me to identify a lot of the techi shots that I needed to view in those movies I miss that class so much.  He did a lot of edge of your seat mysteries who done it etc. COOL!

Well, my WIP is titled THE HILO HUSTLE and it involves a dead PI washing up on a beach, mass quantities of beer, industrial espionage (of a sort), revenge, redemption, deception, reality TV, a fugitive Ponzi schemer, and a Deputy U.S. Marshal working off the books. I think that covers it.

Since I started this thread I thought I would bring it back to life. My first book, Perfect Pawn, just got published on Amazon and so I am working on the sequel (no titled just yet). It picks up a few months after the last one ended and I think I have some really great mobility with the characters. Looks like it is going to be a lot of fun.

Well, now that my first book Perfect Pawn has been published, I am in the process of writing the sequel. One of the things I always envisioned for my characters was a lot of mobility. We see this from almost the very beginning of the new book. My protagonist, Maguire, not only has to deal with the issues presented in the first book, but he now has a new job that is going to weigh heavily upon him as well.

Not to thump my chest, but I have been on a roll with the sequel. This month alone I have dropped nearly 20k words. I love getting in to that groove. I actually got woken up one evening at 11:30 and laid in bed for the next three hours thinking about the plot. It seemed like everything coalesced and I saw the entire progression. I am struggling with only one small part, but when you know 98% of how the book is going to unfold, I would call that a winner !!

I like that. I guess you're going for the chess "brand". Let's see... Pawn\Queen\King\Bishop\Knight\Castle(Rook). So does that limit you to six, maybe seven books in the series or have you already figured out what to do after you run out of pieces? I guess the last two books might be "Check" and "Checkmate."

Curious how my fellow writers feel as they begin to come to the end of their WIP's. For me it is a bit of melancholy. I'm a little over 90% done and I know I'm getting to that "close the book" part. Fortunately for me I am moving into the next one (a stand alone novel but with a character attachments to the other books) and have a good foundation for the 3rd in the Maguire novels.

In the current WIP I have allowed myself to embrace the darker side a bit. I started down a road and thought "what the heck" and let it lead me. Was actually fun.

Finished The Hilo Hustle a few days before T-day and it is now in the hands of a beta reader. I hope to self-pub it by February.

I've since gone back to a shelved ms with the working title The Black Sand Boogie (which could become either The Pahala Boogie or The Punalu'u Boogie or something minus the boogie) which needs some major overhauls.

I just couldn't sit around and not write.

Thanks Tom. Having officially laid it to the side for now and put it into the editing phase I went back and picked up a standalone MS that I had started back in the spring. That should keep me going for awhile. I also have a bunch of thoughts / ideas about the 3rd book in the James Maguire series that I will bouncing around in my distorted little mind.
