My life is currently consumed by deadline MS.

I should probably be working instead of hanging out here, but I would rather sign up for a root canal than tackle hell chapter... just one more vodka and I'll go peek at it...

Rip off the bandaid!!! Just throw some words onto it. The first draft of the hell chapter just needs to get done in order to do anything further.

IT IS SO AWESOME. Did you know they're doing renovations? They're chopping off the Lost Island and extending Harry Potter to Gringotts and Diagon Alley! I KNOW!!

Holy Awesomeness!! I did not know that!

This just in: I have finished editing chapter 4 of 31. Yay. Ugh. I hate having to change the plot around.

Are you guys talking bout that HP theme park? I've always wanted to go, even though I'm not really a fan of the novels.

Yes. It is super neat but I the ride did make my life flash before my eyes. Then again I get scared on Disney's Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, so that could be my issue.

even though I'm not really a fan of the novels.

*horrified gasp*

*GASP* Did you read the books?

And I went to the park! It was awesome -- frozen Butterbeer (not the normal one) is AMAZING.

Multiple times! I just never could get into them. The writing style wasn't my cup of tea and I didn't really like the characters. But I like the movies alright I guess.

That sounds yummy.

Oh, then that's alright then :) As long as you read them.

And you can make homemade Butterbeer too! There's a lot of good recipes on the Internet.

Yeah, don't worry! I wouldn't judge a book without reading it.

That sounds fantastic.

GUESS WHAT

I won an auction for a 25 page critique/query critique by the senior editor of Month9Books.

She just emailed me back and told me to send the stuff in when I was ready! :)

Yeah, I'm super excited to get the stuff back. Even if there's red all over the page, at least I'll know what to not do next time.

I love getting AGENT feedback, above all. It's so official.

Think of it as a rare and treasured gift. You can take this feedback and apply it to much more than those pages.

Congrats!

Do I really have to write this thing one word at  a time?  Feels like there should be a better way.

Gotta rewrite 2-3 chapters for HALF-BREEDS AND OTHER LIABILITIES. Made the characterization go waaaay to fast. Got a better idea for how it should go now.

I have a friend who keeps telling me to stop editing and wait for a while because I'm too close. But...I can't. I need to edit to get it to my Beta. I'm so anxious to start querying.

Probably not a good thing. But I have an issue where I can't focus on more than one thing--even with a finished product. Sucks. >.>

So, rewrite chapters or do another novel...I don't know.

Using the feedback I received in Query Kombat, I rewrote the beginning of my first manuscript, THE BELIEVER, and managed to cut out 2,000 words, 10 pages, and 6 chapters!  I hope I've done the right thing... *chews fingernails*

(Yes, some of my chapters were super short)

Hi, guys! My name is Mia and I'm starting to plan out a novel now :) It's a MG fantasy (haven't written an MG in 5eva) and I'm pretty excited for it. It's different from what I usually write in that it's very girly, but I hope some of my scruffiness and tomboyness still comes through. Heh. I set a deadline for this MS: the end of this month. It's probably near impossible, but I'M GOING TO TRY. Maybe, like, 5k a day. I dunno. It's probably not going to happen, but still. That's how desperately I want to finish an MS and go into editing and querying mode

Anyways, it's nice to meet you all!!!

AWAKENED (YA science fiction) -- shelved

WHO'S THE MOST POPULAR OF THEM ALL? (upper MG contemporary) -- shelved

GUNPOWDER, SPARKLES, AND JUST A LITTLE BIT OF RUM (MG fantasy) -- writing first draft (Query here)
