A new hastag #MSWL was launched on Twitter today.  It stands for MS Wish List and many great agents have weighed in on the type of stories they are looking for.

If you are on Twitter, you should check it out.

If you don't have a Twitter account, you can follow updates via this link on Tumblr: http://agentandedito...ist.tumblr.com/

There's a lot of great info here and it will definitely help querying writers find an agent who may be the perfect match for their ms.

Good Luck!

Also, a note--if you do decide to take part of the hashtag conversation, great.

But I cannot stress enough that this is not the place to pitch your book, or ask an agent if your book  specifically is on their wish list. There are other hashtags for that if you want to do it on twitter, and of course there's always querying. Trust me, going against the rules here doesn't do you any favors and it certainly makes you look more  crazy/desperate than the average writer.

It was really eye-opening & fun today seeing what types/styles agents are looking for right now. I made notes tonight & am sending out 4 more queries today.  And yes, I got a full request today from an agent! I sent my query w/the hashtag & she loved it & asked for the whole thing. :)

So very nice of agents & publishers to take the time to do this. Know they're busy.

I was just over on the Tumblr page and flipped through about the first five or so pages. Found a bunch of agents...for a project that I'm still revising...so now what do I do. I've found ONE for Driven (because she specifically wants what I have: a drummer and it takes place largely in a hospital). Do I hang up Driven if she says no, finish revising the other project and start over with project #2? Or do I revise #2 and keep shopping Driven?

Shop it with agents that rep your genre. Never get hung up on just one agent, and keep going until you've queried all the agents you can that rep your genre. That's the plan.

That's a good idea. Driven has been my baby for a while =), and I bet there's other agents out there for it, if I look. I think I panicked when I saw Tumblr and how many people would be right for project #2...which isn't even remotely ready yet. Submitting Driven this week, so we'll see how it goes.

You're welcome TAH & Aight. Never get your heart set on just one agent.  Like love, the right agent will come along or else another window of opportunity will open for your work if you keep on keeping on. And I'm hoping one soon will love the entire ms!!!

I'm in my final rounds of prep before sending off to the wishlist agent =). I'm kind of getting cold feet...but I also want to make sure this thing is as solid as possible. So, got a critique back on my query, made some changes. Going to re-read the first 30 pages because I added new scenes. Going to go over the synopsis. Hoping a friend can get my first 30 back to me, but she's swamped with stuff this week. But I'm going to try to defeat my nerves and submit Monday =). Or sooner, but Monday is the goal. I also have another agent in mind, so will probably do both that day.

Just wanted to tell everyone that they did another Twitter update on what agents want yesterday. The link below is for tumblr. Hopefully someone here can find the perfect agent from the info.
