Good morning!

So, in math class, we were given an assignment regarding graphs. Everyone is to pick a hobby and research it and make a simple graph. I picked publishing numbers of YA versus Adult fiction. I asked on Twitter for some help but got no takers...so can anyone point me in the right research direction? I was thinking about trying the website for a major publishing house but not sure where I'd begin to look there. I just want to know what the numbers are as far the last five years: how much YA is out there and how much Adult? I know YA is big right now, so that's what triggered my thinking here.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Have you thought about asking book bloggers?

Try Publisher's Marketplace. They probably compile statistics like these.

Working in BN, I'm actually not so sure that YA is actually bigger in terms of numbers. Certainly in volume and publicity, but we get more adult new releases than YA.

I didn't think about that! That's a great idea =). I will see who I follow and start there as well as Publisher's Marketplace.

Charlee: That's interesting to know as well!
