I guess my topic says it all. I've begun getting tweets and emails from my website complaining that people can't find the book on Amazon.com yet, despite my June 17th release date being plastered everywhere. (To say nothing of the jewelry giveaway countdowns everywhere.) Is it possible to put a self-pubbed book up for pre-order on Amazon? Anyone know?

They do allow pre-orders for self pub'd authors, but that's only once you've sold an extraordinary amount of books consistently.

  • Publishing Experience:My work first appeared in Divine Dirt Quarterly and Oysters&Chocolate. Sadly, these are both out of print now. More recently, my short stories have appeared in two anthologies (The Spring and The Fall) from Elephant's Bookshelf Press. I have self published two novels and a short story collection.

A thought, too... when I first looked at your web site and your giveaway, I thought the book was available for sale already because of the way you talk about buying and leaving a review to be entered. Then I got confused with the release date. So you're heavily promoting this contest that no one can even enter yet. That might be causing some confusion.

Pre sales for indies are based on existing sales, ie: you need to be a top 100 overall seller to even be considered.

Another thing, I also went looking for your book, and couldn't even find it at a Goodreads to mark it TBR.

And in 2019, there will be much more, with news to come soon!

A bit late at this point, but Smashwords allows you to post pre-orders (not sure on the numbers needed, but that's easily checked). But they generally recommend that you do so a good 4-6 weeks ahead of time. And if you're not using Smashwords, this info becomes moot.

Smashwords still doesn't get you an amazon pre-order though. Just with the other venues.  Unfortunately.

I've heard quite a few negative things about goodwords, but I'm going to try to get my author page and the book up there today.
