Someone has been going around stealing fanfiction and publishing it. So far, this particular 'author' has been going around the Glee fanfiction, taking femslash fics, and changing them to heterosexual ones. She's taken Dylan Hart's Should Have Asked for Directions and has plans to steal JJ's The Knife Thrower's Daughter and change it to the Knife Thrower's Son. Another person stole Frogsr2Cool's story, If Only You Could See What I See and self published it.

The article on the 'author' is here.

If any of you post your work online, keep an eye out for it showing up elsewhere.

That's horrible.  I don't think I'd be nearly as forgiving... I'd <deleted for your protection> and then I'd start over and do it again.

Once a month or so, I do a random search on a random line from a random chapter.  So far, no one has touched it.  I've also put up a warning to my fans that I'll stop updating if I find anyone ripping off my fic, so they're pretty good about contacting me if there's something questionable going on (like when people writing fics based on my fic, using my OCs--that happened quite a bit).

What was she talking about when she said "register it"?

You know, this is why most writers are never discovered. People do this kind of crap and it makes new writers too afraid to post their stuff!
