Personally I like the first the best, but I know there will be criticism that its not as visible when the icon is small on createspace. what do you guys think?

The middle one looks the best, but your name isn't going to be visible in any of them. Why does everybody want their names so small?

well its a penname anyways and i just feel sort of wierd about putting a big branded name on it. im basically publishing it anonymously so does it matter to put a big name?

  • Publishing Experience:My work first appeared in Divine Dirt Quarterly and Oysters&Chocolate. Sadly, these are both out of print now. More recently, my short stories have appeared in two anthologies (The Spring and The Fall) from Elephant's Bookshelf Press. I have self published two novels and a short story collection.

If you plan on publishing anything under this name ever again, yes. It doesn't have to be huge. I'd argue it doesn't even have to be 100% legible at thumbnail size. Just big enough so we know what the heck it is. In the first one, you can hardly even tell there's an author name on there at all. With the two with the horizontal red band, it looks silly not to have the text in there fill up more of that space.

That said, I like the first one most, just because it's the only one where I truly understand that Rise is a subtitle (since you don't use a colon) and my brain wants to read "Beta Earth Rise" as one phrase without it.

My eyes went to the middle one right away.
