For those of you who may not know, Goodreads was purchased by Amazon in early 2014.

When the news first hit, everyone speculated what Amazon's agenda would be?  Would they just let the site go fallow, the same way that they did with Shelfari?  Was it a move to simply keep competitors like Google from making the purchase.  Or did they have something specific up their sleeve?

Well, today, we noticed that there are now DIRECT BUY buttons on our books' GoodRead pages.  And our KINDLE UNLIMITED $00.00 button is pretty prominent.

EDIT: upon reflection, perhaps the buy buttons have always been there, but the addition of the KINDLE UNLIMITED button $00.00 as the first button under GET A COPY, is definitely new...

That is pretty cool.  That means there's now another well-known, heavily trafficked sales funnel for the sales of our books.

We know that current readers consider Goodreads, just a "review" site and a place to network with our readers about books -- NOT a retail/sales site.

But it looks Amazon might seek to change GR users' and expectations like 2015.

Wow.

I assuming it's a US only feature?

I'm not seeing it on any book page.

In 2015, I saw a few memoir/nonfiction pieces published in Red Fez. I expect to do more of that in 2016 and beyond, while also looking to add freelance editing and writing clients.

I haven't seen it yet either. Probably being tested.

We went to A.W. Exley's THE UNICORN'S TAIL and it's there under the book's blurb, Kindle Edition, Publication date, GET A COPY...

Because THE UNICORN'S TAIL is $0.99, it says: KINDLE UNLIMITED $00.00 or buy for $0.99

Will see if we can circle back later and post a screen shot.

It looks like you have to be logged into Goodreads to see it, and yes... likely with a US-based or UK-based IP address since that's where Kindle Unlimited is being currently offered.  Once you click on the button, you can one-click for the purchase.
