For those of you who may not know, Goodreads was purchased by Amazon in early 2014.
When the news first hit, everyone speculated what Amazon's agenda would be? Would they just let the site go fallow, the same way that they did with Shelfari? Was it a move to simply keep competitors like Google from making the purchase. Or did they have something specific up their sleeve?
Well, today, we noticed that there are now DIRECT BUY buttons on our books' GoodRead pages. And our KINDLE UNLIMITED $00.00 button is pretty prominent.
EDIT: upon reflection, perhaps the buy buttons have always been there, but the addition of the KINDLE UNLIMITED button $00.00 as the first button under GET A COPY, is definitely new...
That is pretty cool. That means there's now another well-known, heavily trafficked sales funnel for the sales of our books.
We know that current readers consider Goodreads, just a "review" site and a place to network with our readers about books -- NOT a retail/sales site.
But it looks Amazon might seek to change GR users' and expectations like 2015.
