Getting ready to publish my first novel.  I've "claimed" my author profile, but don't have my book loaded yet.  I'm curious as to what actions some of the AQC community took to stimulate reviews; what worked, what didn't.

I tried giveaways. These were only somewhat effective. I used Amazon free days and spent about 100 dollars marketing my free book. I had 700 downloads but only 2 reviews.
I tried a goodreads giveaway. Gave away 5 books. Not a single review resulted.
I have asked bloggers to review for a free book. I dont get many responses but those I do almost always leave reviews.

Looks like it's a tough slog.  I'm working friends right now.  Interestingly, I have four reviews (the book has now been out for 9 days) and two are from total strangers.  I was told to check Amazon reviewers in my genre.  I can see huge numbers when looking at other books, but I can't figure out how one contacts the reviewers.  Nor am I sure of the etiquette in this area.

I'm in that same boat, but I haven't had any reviews or more sells. I'm sort of at a loss. How does one generate reviews on GR if no one buys it?

One option might be to do an ebook giveaway. I know that when I have done thosr I usually get some reviews.
