I've always wanted to do this. :-)  Happy to announce that I am officially agented. Hooray!  See below for the query that nabbed my agent, along with my query stats. You can check out this post if you want to read the whole story.  Thanks to all the folks on here for their fantastic advice and input into my query!

Dear fabulous agent:

[Personalized stuff about why I'm querying them went here - I used #MSWL quite a bit]

Fourteen people died because Whitney saved the wrong man’s life. Now someone wants revenge.

Whitney Lancing knows what death looks like. She’s seen it hovering over strangers’ heads since she was seven, rippling in smoke-like clouds only she can see. Sometimes she can save people from their impending death. Sometimes she can’t. But she never once questioned whether or not it was her place to try.

Until the unthinkable happens.

Now Whitney will do anything to escape the memory of last year’s tragedy. Even if it means quitting her beloved dance team or pushing down her growing feelings for Isaac, the boy who makes her remember what life was like before her guilt became all-consuming. But mostly moving on means ignoring the telltale clouds that warn her when someone is in danger. Because Whitney can't tell the good guys from the bad, and enough people died from her mistake.

But not everyone is as eager as Whitney to bury the past. On her first day back at school, she finds an ominous message scrawled onto her locker door. Then someone close to Whitney dies, and despite what the doctors say she knows their death is no an accident—it’s a message.

Someone wants revenge for what happened last year. And before they’re finished, Whitney will have to break her vow and save one last life—her own.

THE DARKNESS RISES is a 69,000 word YA thriller with speculative elements that could be described as Gretchen McNeil's Ten meets Victoria Laurie's When with a splash of Friday Night Lights.

What is "#MSWL"?
What does that mean?

It's short for manuscript wishlist. There's a website for agents to tell writers what they like, what they're looking for, and any big events coming up. Check it out!
