I'm a self-pubbed author and just starting to explore the possibility of finding an agent. However, I am very wet around the ears and have a lot of reading to do.

In regard to sending out queries. Can we try to sell them on a book that has already been pubbed or do we only send queries for manuscripts that are not published yet?

Thanks

As a rule of thumb, agents do not want books that have been self-published and neither do publishers.

That said, there are always exceptions. If your self-published book has sold more than 10,000 copies (sold, not given away), then there are agents and publishers who might take it on. (Think "The Martian" by Andy Weir.) Though, if it were selling that well, you would probably have been contacted by now because there are agents who follow Amazon and are looking for self-published ebooks whose sales are still rising. (Again, this is how Andy Weir got his agent.)
