Hi lovely people,

What does it mean exactly when an agency you want to query says, "let us know if your manuscript/proposal is currently under consideration by other agents/publishers?"

Does that mean under offer?!

My full YA manuscript was requested by a publishing agency and another agent. I am waiting to hear back from them (it's been 2 months).

My partial is under consideration from 2 other agents.

I am still querying my manuscript to other agencies but I have not mentioned that other agencies and the publishing comp have my full and partial manuscript. Do I have to tell them that my manuscript is under consideration? Or do I only do that if I get an offer?

Thank you.

They're asking if you've sent out our manuscript to other agents. I clear that up by adding the line, "This is a simultaneous submission." It lets them know that you are sending it out to several agents. "Under consideration" might be that another agents has accepted it and is working on it to see if they'd want to represent it.
