I was offered a contract by Christian Faith Publishing, but I have to pay $3500. Is this normal? They are a highly reputable company, but all the sites I research say not to pay for publishing. What do I do? I'm so confused.

That's a vanity press. They're not reputable. They will offer anyone a contract, just as long as the person will pay them. That's how vanity presses work.

I just looked at their page. It took me one click to find a giant red flag.

CFP publishes titles in fiction, non-fiction, children’s, reference, poetry, biographical genres.

There are two basic errors in there ( don't start a sentence with an acronym, and no 'and,' following the Oxford comma), and most of those aren't even genres. Run away.

Thank you! I emailed them saying I needed more time to come up with the money and they never replied. Am I better off self-publishing or finding a literary agent that will work with a nobody/guppy writer?
