Is 20,000 words too short for a middle grade fantasy novel? If so, what would a good minimum be?

According to this (the generally recommended word counts for each age group and genre), MG fantasy is 35,000-75,000 words with the sweet spot being 45,000-65,000 words.

20,000 words is far too short.
