Hi AQC! I’m S P Murphy and I’m a reformed businessman. I studied Economics but my true pursuit has always been fiction, be it fantasy, science fiction, horror, mystery, thriller, or literary. As a brand new author, I’m interested in writing all these genres.

That said, right now I am watching a series of lectures by fantasy author Brandon Sanderson (author of The Stormlight Chronicles and several other series) that are free to watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube....MeMpMru7vJaW7KJ. Lectures 12-14 are about publishing and getting an agent, so I hope other members find them as useful as I have.

Finally, I started work on a novel last week. Does anyone have advice on what I should think about at this early stage that sometimes slips through the cracks? As a newbie I will need lots of help, and I’d appreciate your thoughts.
