I am in the process of contacting agents for my first book.

Short synopsis:
Unemployed Dean ends up selling drugs. He is involved in homicide then double-crossed by his cocaine supplier. The police start following him after a 'friend' is murdered in Sydney airport. He meets a new cocaine supplier on a dating site. Dean eventually learns that crime does not pay.

Hi from Australia too.

Since you're planning to approach agents, I suggest you prepare for it. Agents are after Query letters, containing ideally three paragraphs with a blurb about your story. You'll find heaps of examples in the query section of this website.

A synopsis is the outline of the entire story in no more than 1000 words. The synopsis also should give away the ending.

Every agent has their own guidelines to follow. Some just want a query letter. Some want pages from the MS as well. Others want the synopsis too. It's important to follow their guidelines.

Good luck
