Hi all,

I hope somebody can help me out. I have queried for a while and most agents have asked for a one or two page synopsis. Recently, I’ve noticed a change in the requirements. Some agents now write they want a one page synopsis, or if it’s longer than one page, to send a two page synopsis double-spaced, but no longer than two pages. Hmmm, now I’m seriously scratching my head. When I double-space a one page synopsis, of course it turns out to be a two-page synopsis. So I can’t really see the point in this, because well, obviously, there is no gain in words.

I just cut my original synopsis from a way too long 1500 down to 860 words, which I think is acceptable. But it’s 1 ½ pages, single spaced. So of course when I double space it, it’s 3 pages. So where do I go from here???? Double space it, not double space it, wish for the best???

Thanks for your help

My guess would be they mean they want anything over a page double spaced for easier reading, and by “no longer than two pages” they mean no longer than two pages before double spacing. At least, that’s how I am interpreting it when I see it, I could be completely wrong.

Thanks. I know it's very confusing. Some write to double space when the synopsis is longer than 1 page but at the same time they write, don't send a synopsis that's longer than 2 pagses. But when you double space 1 page you have 2 pages. So to me it doesn't make any sense at all.

I like DisgruntledWriter's interpretation.

1-page -- leave it single space

over 1-page -- double space

Don't have a synopsis longer than 2 pages, single spaced.
