Just thought I'd put this question on here: how can I ask for reviews from people who have read my book? Honestly I'm really scared to even ask, in case no one liked the book at all. But at least I can see what people thought of it and see what was good/bad.

Good question. I don't read zombies or werewolves or shapeshifters or other stuff like that so I can't do it for you, but I'll have a romantic mystery out this month (sometime!! still not sure when) and I'm wondering the same thing.

Some ideas:

1. When you have a contest and give away copies, there's an expectation that people will write a review - so give away some copies (especially on Goodreads)
2. Kelly A. Harmon wrote a great blog article on what to give a writer as a gift and/or how to support the writer in your life. Things like tagging your book on Amazon, writing reviews, forwarding your tweets and FB posts, etc. So link to that article or post something similar - say "if you like my writing and want to support me, here's what you can do". Put it on FB, Tweet, your website, email it your subscribers/followers, etc.
3. Submit to review sites. On the 30-day promotional challenge thread I posted a link to a ginormous list of book review sites.

Hope this helps!

anyone know how to fix this? I set up my blog feed on goodreads so it automatically populates when a new blog is posted. BUT sometimes it posts the new blog, sometimes it doesn't. Does it take more than a day to post? or am i missing something?

I can't seem to add my book on Goodreads. I don't want to make an author page,as I only have my book on Smashwords. But I took a cue from the Marketing Guide, and tried to get my book listed on another site;but the site moderator suggested Goodreads first.

I think you have to be a librarian to add a book or post to the librarian group and one of them will do it for you. Maybe. I don't know everything I should about GR.

I'm not a librarian and I can add books. (I mean, I'm a librarian in 'real' life, but Goodreads doesn't know that.) I have been on the site for awhile though and am a so-called top reviewer for Canada--even though I have way slipped in my rankings. So maybe that makes it so I can add books?

Don't have a clue. But when I couldn't change some stuff, I found I was eligible for librarian status and after, it changed!

As another Goodreads librarian, I'd be glad to put up anyone's unlisted book. It's easy with the proper links. Right now there'd be a bit of a delay due to my internet situation, but I should be more reliable in the future if this would help anyone.

If I recall, librarian status is a relatively new thing (originally anyone could add books). Maybe since you're such a model member they made you one automatically.
