Ms. Picard also requested my fill manuscript after receiving my query and I sent it to her. She replied within a week stating she found it intriguing and wants to charge $2.50 per page attaching a few pages that she edited. I must say I approve the changes she suggested, but I'm still unsure of going with her after everything I've read about her on the internet.

Yeah, I don't blame you for being apprehensive, Karen. I know the woman has sold books, but editing charges aren't very common from what I hear. The word intriguing also makes me wonder whether she read your full manuscript. Most people tend to use the word 'intrigued' when they're unfamiliar with something. (IE - If you find a recipe intriguing, you try it - at which point the recipe is no longer intriguing and you either like it or you do not.)

NO reputable agent charges editing fees from the clients they represent. There are some reputable agents who have editing services, but they will not sign you as a client if you have ever paid them a dime for their editing. It's a conflict of interest. I'd run far, far away from this "agent".

A useful thread, and helpful feedback to boot. A writer's time is precious, and best unwasted.
