I love the reason you write for this age group. It is so true that these kids have the most amazing spirits and are super fun and funny in their searches to become who they will be.

I also ditto your idea that writing shorter is harder. Same characterization, same plotting, fewer words.

Thanks for sharing your writing journey with us.

Middle Grade for me! I like the plot character driven action/fantasy and the fact that I DON'T have to write in a romance which is so very mandatory in YA! LOL! I'm not good at romance! (Though I'm trying...)

I've been reading MG books since college (I remember being ashamed to be haunting the kid's section in the bookstore- back when we HAD bookstores). But I did anyway!

Please check out my MG query here

I just like 9 to 13 year olds best. Their minds are open. The world is great, creative, and new. The older a person is the more bottled up (most) they become.

It's been awhile since a post on here, but I just wanted to share anyway.

I thought for long time I was writing YA, but it turns out its probably MG. I love the younger middle school ages, however I am also a middle school teacher, so I might be slightly biased. They are still "kids" at that point, wide eyed, goofy, and ridiculous. As it was said several times already, they are still open to possibilities and notions of magic, fantastic thoughts run rampant in their minds.

Though I would like to add more sarcasm and rougher language, the concepts are still very much MG. I hope it goes over well!

I write mostly YA and some adult stuff. I'm a fantasy writer through and through -- some historical, some contemporary, some set in other worlds. I also tend toward themes of discovering one's identity and sense of self, and of heroes seeking to change corrupt governments and policies for the better. Or both. XD I love dealing with nonhuman races, too. Fae, elves, vampires, werewolves, merfolk... :D

There's too much blood in my tea system. Time to put the kettle on.

All projects except WINTER'S QUEEN are currently on hiatus until further notice. Thank you!
