Day One

Posted by Angela Faust , 17 December 2011 · 238 views

Today is day one of my blog. I've never blogged before and have really no idea what I should say. I've used Agent Query for a while now. It's advice has been greatly helpful and the agent informaiton listed is more complete here than many other sites. I joined AQ Connect today as a way to connect to other writers because before now, I've been a regular person with a hobby. But I want to make it more than that and this is where I start. So, a little about me - I live in Dallas, Texas and I'm married to a wonderful man and have a beautiful daughter. They have been so patient with me and understanding when I close myself in my room with my laptop. I work a regular 9-5 job and really only write in my spare time which isn't much.

For all those lost writers out there looking to start your literary life - I'm right here with you. I plan to blog about my experiences, good and bad, and my successes and downfalls of hopefully becoming a professional writer. Problem #1 I'll be working on is my grammar...it's pretty awful. Any tips in that area that don't involve reliving English 101 please let me know. I'm thrilled to be here among other writers and can't wait to share what I learn and hope you'll share as well.

Hi! I must say that I'm doing the same. Never blogged before, but I'm trying. I totally understand wanting the grammer help. I too need help in that area. So here is a site that REALLY helped me a lot.
I hope it helps you as much as it's helping me now.

Hi Angela! Congrats on starting your blog! I created one 2 years ago and it was the best thing I've ever done. Having a place all your own to write is amazing and it holds you accountable for writing something each day or as often as you can. It's also a great way to network with other writers and bloggers.

As far as your grammar, try reading some blogs and sites you really respect and also listening to the Grammar Girl podcasts on iTunes. They are really helpful! Here is a link to the website: http://grammar.quickanddirtytips.com/

Also, I recently posted a grammar guide on my blog which I got from Copybloggers. It's a handy cheat sheet of sorts: http://lyricfire.typ...yber-posts.html

Hope this helps! Cheers!
